Zambezi Horse Trails

Horseback safaris are led by experienced riders game rangers and takes place along the banks of the Zambezi River (+/- 30 minute drive from hotels), surrounded by the exciting Zambian bushveld and riverine forest. These offer plentiful game and bird viewing opportunities. Whether you’re a novice or not, this is an incredible way to interact more closely with nature. You can stand unnoticed and watch small game such as Bushbuck and Duiker, canter through open bushveld and catch the unexpected sight of a warthog reversing at high speed into the safety of his home. In the dry winter season there is always a possibility of seeing elephants whilst all year round along the riverbanks, hippo and crocodile sightings are possible. All rides include a brief visit at a local village, to experience the life styles of the local Zambians. Should a beginner feel at all nervous of this swift-footed carrier, a guide is available to lead the horse at a walk. There are trips designed for inexperienced riders, and for those who have had considerable riding experience. On all out rides, riders are grouped with others of similar experience. All riders are automatically covered by MARS (Medical Air Rescue Services), a first aid box and radio accompanies each safari.
